A Centralized Solution for Home Gateway Management

Enable automated flow-through provisioning of subscriber services with Cisco Broadband Access Center (BAC), a distributed, scalable, high performance, subscriber-device-management application.

BAC has two separate products focused on different markets:

Broadband Access Center for Telco and Wireless (BAC-TW)

BAC-TW 3.5 automates the tasks of provisioning and managing customer premises equipment (CPE) in a broadband service provider network.

Scale BAC-TW for networks of virtually any size, even those with millions of CPE. Because of its distributed architecture and centralized management, BAC-TW offers high availability.

The 3.5 release supports provisioning and managing of CPE by using the Broadband Forum’s CPE WAN Management Protocol (CWMP), a standard defined in the TR-069 specification. BAC-TW integrates the capabilities defined in TR-069 to increase operator efficiency and reduce network-management problems.

BAC-TW supports devices based on the TR-069, TR-098, TR-104 and TR-106 standards, such as:

  • Ethernet and ADSL gateway devices
  • wireless gateways
  • VoIP ATAs
  • other devices compliant with CWMP

BAC-TW also provides for runtime-extensible data models to support any upcoming data-model standards or any vendor-specific data models based on CWMP.

Critical features such as redundancy and failover are also provided. A provisioning application programming interface (API) allows you to control how BAC-TW operates and integrate it into new and existing environments:

  • Register devices in BAC-TW
  • Assign device configuration policies
  • Execute CWMP operations on the CPE
  • Configure the entire BAC-TW provisioning system
